"All Our Yesterdays"

Picture
It was a heart-tugging and poignant third season episode. And only the second time we would see Mr. Spock fall in love. The fans would likely love it. But what did NBC have to say? Donald Bays, speaking for the network, wrote Fred Freibeger:
“Please delete the word “idiot” in Atoz’ speech and replace with a word not associated with the mentally ill. … [and] please make certain there are no familiarities such as the open mouth kiss which would embarrass the viewer during the Spock/Zarabeth romantic interlude.”
And then they cancelled the series.
Mariette Hartley said, “Trekkers love Zarabeth. I think, because they love Spock.  She was really classically drawn, a lost soul who was desperate, and there was a passion about her.... There was something mysterious and kind of wonderful with Spock finally, obviously, falling in love.... Beautiful love story, very well-written, very well-directed....
It was a fabulous show.”
Director Marvin Chomsky said, “The third one I directed -- the one in the library -- I loved that show. A wonderful cast; a marvelous concept.”
“I love that episode,” Producer Fred Freiberger said. “One of my favorites.”
